i tried to marry an offender and they took my son from me. His offense was minor, and it was 13 years ago. We had a daughter together and lived together for 6 years. But my sons dad found out and i lost him. All because they ooked him up on a registry.

in utah they state it as a class a misdemeanor for harassing any sex offender on the registry which is punishable up to 90 day in jail and or a 5000 dollar fine if i'm correct

Daver, you are absolutely correct. Further ....

The Registries, etc. are counterproductive, immoral, often idiotic, often illegal, and un-American BS. The Registries are not even for public safety, that is not the reason they exist. If it were, many, many other types of Registries (and the extra laws that go with them) would have been created prior to the year 2000.

So, the people who are listed on those Registries should never do anything that makes the Registries appear acceptable or legitimate. Registrants should never interact with any employees of governments, especially law enforcement, except when it is required by law. That interaction should always be written communications. A Registrant should never speak with law enforcement and certainly never answer any questions (except perhaps one or two basic questions).

Registrants are only required to go to government locations to give them certain, limited information at certain times only. They should do nothing beyond that. Registrants do not have to help those governments "verify" any of that information in any way. Registrants should not allow law enforcement onto their properties at all.

If a Registrant is visited by law enforcement on their property they should simply say, "I'm sorry but I'm going to have to ask you to leave this property immediately," and say no more. Personally, I will say who I am if they ask but I won't do anything further. I will not sign anything.

If a Registrant is visited by law enforcement where he/she works, the Registrant should tell them that they are busy, have nothing to say to them, and they should stop bothering you.

There is absolutely no need to support the harassment and BS of the Registries.

Is this guy coming up for reelection? He had his friend go down and commit a crime to make a point. Fact is you can't put the bullet back in the gun. This person being ignorant of the qualifications is no excuse for signing a paper saying he did and then walking out to say how easy it was to commit fraud. Sure if you are willing to lie you can get most anything including food stamps however there are penalties that you will face at some point because they will come back on you. So he wants to bar families that really need this support including the food stamps for sex offenders because why? To make him look like he is saving the country? From sex offenders and their families that need to eat and can't support themselves due to the fact they can't be hired. Does he know that he is effecting children and taking food out of their mouths? Guess he figures if a person is placed on the registry they don't have a family. They are alone and isolated with the control the government places on them. Fact is they do although they are held down and can't make a living they still have families. Maybe they could find away to close that loophole. Sex offenders are forbidden from having families? If they have a relationship with another human they should go to jail as we don't want to support this? When really the registry has created and enabled this sub group of families and we don't want to fund this. You can't have it both ways. Either you stop the hysteria and let people go on with their lives and be productive or keep paying. Simple really.

It's good to see that "Torch" and the gang were able to pull themselves away from their hectic careers for this benevolent cause. Maybe if things work out well they'll recruit a future pledge or two. Every parents aspiration for the little one's.

And now they've lost track of the "High Risk Predator". But at least they can sleep a little better at night knowing he's not in a stable environment and away from the school (or is he?).

In Missouri, it says right on our sex offender website that if any of the offender's information is used to harass the offender than it is a felony. I wonder if his state had that, if so all those people should of been charged with a felony. The man should not have moved. It was his right to be there, and he paid his time to society. Ignorant people, ugh!

It should have been part of the report that the harassment of sex offender is a hate crime as defined in Federal Law. The local police failed to act to stop the obvious harassment of this offender who at 61 is probably not much of a threat anymore.
